The travel I love is not about visiting a tourist destination, a resort, or a tourist-packed attraction. Instead, it is about going a little out of your comfort zone (or a lot, based on your preference :)), to truly experience the world. Avoid the herds, discover new unspoilt places or enjoy popular sights in an unpretentious, personal way. I believe this kind of travel opens the mind to be able to grasp how huge and beautiful the Earth truly is. But most importantly – do travel. Realize that there are wonderful places waiting to be found everywhere around that are very different from the comfort of your home or a 5 star hotel room. Enjoy the difference, discover the million faces of life and do not wait … after all, there is a whole planettoexplore.
I believe the most intensive emotions are created when you experience something that is not staged. Seeing an orangutan in a zoo may be interesting, but seeing a wild orangutan making a nest above your roof makes you eyes go wide. Jumping in a pool to swim with a turtle may be ok (as long as the turtle is treated well), but seeing tens of wild turtles from the terrace of your room on a remote island takes your breath away. Getting squeezed between hundreds of tourists on a popular viewpoint to get the best selfie with a volcano takes the magic of the place away, but there is another way to do it. Seeing a whale … well, I think that speaks about itself. But it is possible without joining a cheesy package trip, where every single minute is planned out beforehand.

I know these kind of unpretentious experiences are still possible, as I have encountered many on my travels. I prefer the authentic and I have started to have a good sense of where to find it.
